Masters maple Reserve in high volume situation(Extreme metal)?

Hello everybody!

I'm looking for a new shellpack. I would like a Masters Maple Complete, but the colors are awful this year ... While the color for the Masters Maple Reserve is much better!

How do you think a drum with a thin 4 plys shell and re-ring will performe in a high volume/High noise fast extreme metal?

I'm not sure about that, and the FatTone rims...

On the other hand, the Tama Walnut/birch Starclassic looks at me!?

A couple things to consider. Not only will you have the current Masters Maple Reserve colors to choose from if you go with that series, but I believe you can also pick all of the previous Masters Premium colors as well if you go Masters Maple Reserve. You will have to ask, but i'm almost certain it can be requested. Maybe Al will jump in to confirm or deny.

If you mic the drums, then thin shells with fat tone hoops won't matter. Those drums will sound killer all day long. So many metal guys have used that same shell over the years.

Are you playing lots of gigs without micing your drums or what?

you can also order the Masters Maple Reserve in any of the high quality delmar and satin coverings via Music City Custom and have the kit in two week turnaround.

If you don't mind waiting, yes you can order the Masters Maple Reserve (MRV) in any of the older Masters and Masters Premium finishes. It would be a special order 4-6 month delivery time.

If you're gigging a lot the answer is definitely not buying a Reference........those drums are HEAVY.

I'm playing MMX's now, which are the same shell construction as MRV, and I'd say their well suited to virtually any style of music with good tuning and head selection. They're a very versatile set of drums.

I agree and I don't think the volume difference is going to be extremely noticeable. I have a thin and thick shelled Masters kit and the volume difference isn't noticeable. What is fairly noticeable is the warmth, but the thin shelled kit also has triple flanged hoops while the straight sided 6 ply shell has master cast die cast hoops.

My References were noticeably louder than my MMX's (particularly the bass drum), but not to the point where I think an MMX wouldn't be acceptable for what he's looking for.

I would love to see some of the older colors offered in the Maple Reserve and Music City Custom line.

You can special order MRV series in old Masters finishes that haven't been discontinued. All special orders are 4-6 month delivery times.
