  • Has anybody seen these new master's or anyone have a set??????

I'm very curious to know how these differ to the Master's Maple Complete Series...

If one of my kits sell then I'll likely be getting one. Someone from Pearl please correct me if I'm wrong. From what I understand, the difference b/w maple reserve and maple complete are that:
1.) the reserve series is exactly like the older MMX or MMP shells (4 ply thin maple shell [5 mm thick] shell with 4 ply re-enforcement rings)
The maple complete is a six ply straight sided shell that is 5.4 mm thick
2.) Maple reserve has aluminum optimounts, and ref and MW style floor tom brackets and kick drum spurs (doesn't say that, but it looks like it in the pics on the site from what I can see). The complete series has the MCX version FT brackets and kick spurs and the older style optimount.
3.) maple reserves have fat tone hoops and completes have 2.3 mm super hoops.
4.) Maple reserves are special order only. This is not the case for the complete kits.
5.) Maple reserves can be special ordered using any of the previously offered Masters finishes which is a major BONUS!

    Am i missing anything?

I believe the Masters MRV come with the gold ratio air vents also. Other than that......you nailed it perfectly.

How do you all think they would differ in sound ? Shell is basically the same thickness. Different ply layups and the reserves have the reinforcing rings. Which ones would resonate longer ?

I own an MMX kit, just like the Reserves and I can't speak for the Maple Complete. From behind the kit, the Reserves will have a long sustain. The drums just sing. You have all the old MMX finish options as well. They are the more high end 'custom' kit.

I think it's probably too early for many to have seen them outside of NAMM which, of course, is an acronym for Not Available Maybe May!

There are some Youtube videos out there but this is the best one I've seen. It covers the entire Pearl 2017 line and goes over the Masters Maple Reserve at approximately the 5:30 mark:

Dude can't even get Pearl history or series info correct at 5:40 mark .. haha

"Masters Maple Reserve, It's a recreation of the classic MRX drum sound from the 80's that Pearl made"

Masters Maple Reserve is MMX from 90's bro .. MRX was 6 ply - 7.5mm shell

Correct - Masters Maple Reserve is the old MMX shell 4-ply maple 5mm with maple reinforcement rings.
