  • BC-930 vs B-1030

In your opinion, is it worth the extra $ to go a 1030 boom stand compared to a 930?

I’d say to go ahead and get the 1030 just to make absolutely sure it’ll work for you, but I also use play pretty high cymbals and hit really hard. I’d say most drummers would be fine with a 900 though, I used a couple 900 booms for years and they worked perfectly for me at the time.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is the 1000 series heavier/more solid? Going to throw a 17" china on it and later on probably a 18"+ crash as well.

Yeah the 1030 is gonna be a bit heavier duty, I’ve got experience with both and the 1000/2000 series stuff by Pearl is awesome. The 900 series is more geared towards the working drummer, I’d say. If you’re gonna boom 2 cymbals off of that, I’d do 1030 but I did a 20” crash and 18” China boom off my 900 comfortably. Here’s a pic of that setup. Click image for larger version

Sweet! Yeah, I might go the 1030

Absolutely loving them. I had a Granite Sparkle Reference back in the day but stopped playing for a number of years. So happy to be back into a Reference again.

Looking forward to my 16x14 arriving

I've got a 17" K Custom Dark China on the way, will have to take some more pics of the setup when it arrives.

The only difference between the 930 and 1030 stands comes in the boom arm - the 1030 has the tubular steel cymbal arm, versus the knurled arm on the 930, and you get the Gyro-lock tilter over the Uni-lock tilter; the 1030 also has the quick release cymbal nuts (which are really the best reason to go that route.)

The stand bases are exactly the same otherwise - no difference, and no memory locks in either line.

Both arms are totally strong - I've had my 19" KCustom china and 20" ACustom crash on the same stand with the 930s with no issue at all. The real issue is the stand stability - the legs have flex and the AC-30 multi-clamp does as well. (I mount a DW kit on Pearl mounts, and went back to the DW9900 stands because of how much stronger the bases are.)
