  • Mounting of Cowbell

By CB is on my bass drum between my mounted toms.
It gets in the way when I cross stick on my snare.
Any suggestions on hardware or other places to mount the CB.
I would like to use more than one if possible.

Instead of mounting my cowbell to my bass drum hoop, I attach it to my snare stand using Tama hardware (click on each for their hyperlink):This allows me to fine tune the height of the cowbell so it is just below/on level with/above the cross stick.
I also use a MC66 with a LCB attached to a tom stand to mount another cowbell or jam block between my hanging "floor" toms. I hope this helps.

        i use this pearl holder:
        http://www.musiciansfriend.com/drums...elease-bracket

ive tried it out in a lot of places...currently, im liking it on the main ride stand, so the cowbell juts out over the top of the kick drum, from the right.
the pearl holder is nice since you can adjust the L-rod so your cowbell is not getting in the way of your cross-sticking, as you mention.

ive also had it on the hihat stand, but i prefer it on the ride cymbal stand. im not a big fan of clamps that go on the bass drum hoop since youre limited to that one location.

if ypu have a lot of stands, ive seen people use one just for cowbell. then you can pretty much put it anywhere.

Mine is clamped on the rack with the Pearl cowbell holder. Off a stand you can use the holder with a ax-20 clamp. I think that's the part number

I've tried it over on the right and don't really like it on that side. I have it on the left side cash cymbal stand, and use an LP cowbell clamp. I think it's kind of hard to place a cowbell, can't be too close IMO, and you have to have clearance to hit it (can't be too high up under a cymbal). At least for me.

Raise the snare so the stick hits the rim and not the bell. Or lower the bell so the stick doesn't hit it when you go for a rim click.

But that's if you want to keep the bell in that position. I prefer my CB just past my floor tom. It's there when I need it, out of the way when I don't.

Right hand side over the FT for me. I had issues with cross-sticking like you but also didn't want to mar the hoop on my Ref BD. Now I find that I just like it better off to the far right.

The position of mine is not the most ergonomic you'll find but is accessible with left or right hand.

Nice clean set up, and kudos on having a nice clean finished drum room, those are kind of scarce around here.

I have mine over my floor tom, under cymbal level. It's using a clamp and mapex tom arm from the crash stand.
