Anyone here into the Charlotte music scene? It sort of fell apart 4 or 5 years ago. It's either still down and out, or I'm just too old now to be in the loop.

My friends and I used to go to shows almost every week - harvard, secret lives of the freemasons, emery, the nova echo. Most of those bands have either broken up, or don't bother playing in Charlotte anymore. I wouldn't mind checking out some jazz bands either. Any suggestions?
Jus cause it's a theme song, don't mean it ain't true...

I don't know about jazz bands, as I'm from Columbia, but All the Bright Lights and Flagship are worth a listen.

Edit: Paper Tongues and Public Radio as well.

Yeah same here over by Raleigh. Died a few years ago. My band was so close to making it out but then the collapse. I miss Secret Lives! big time. Although the very high no-show rate of Seneca has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

The Fillmore Charlotte has some good shows. I've played there. Great venue. There are some cool places down there around NC Music Factory Blvd.

Raleigh is finicky, but try Lincoln Theatre, Southland Ballroom, or the new Whiskey Room. I've played all 3, so those are the venues I like, unless it's a national act coming through the amphitheater at Walnut Creek.
