  • Pearl Cabana Cajon - User's Manuals, How To Tune, etc

I'm a newbie at cajon-playing. A week ago I purchased a Pearl Cabana Cajon Regular PBC511CC2 Mahogany from Guitar Center/Musician's Friend online. When it arrived, there was no user's manual, no registration information, etc. Almost as bad, there is NO Pearl Cabana Cajon shown in any current/past Pearl catalog (?) or on PearlDrum.com website. Then, a sales rep at Pearl Nashville office told me the reason the Pearl Cabana cajon isn't in any Pearl catalog is because it's what they call an "exclusive", e.g., Pearl manufactured it expressly for Guitar Center/Musician's Friend retail outlets. Anyway, as this particular product apparently has a guitar strings snare adjustment feature, the tone is adjusted through a single allen nut at the cajon's base (an allen wrench is provided by Pearl). My question: Is there a user's manual for the Pearl Cabana and/or even a similar Pearl (or other) product on how to proceed with that "tuning" process? Any forum members know of other resource(s) to do this? BTW, I've been playing Pearl drums since 1997, and own a Pearl Vision birch 5-piece kit that I love, which is why I thought the Pearl- branded cajon would be a good purchase. Please, any help, suggestions, resources would be appreciated. Thank you. IguanaBob

    Hi Bob,

Yes, it's a cajon made exclusively for Guitar Center. Pearl has done this for a while and this one is the latest version.

There is no manual or instructions with these kinds of drums. You just have to listen to the snare tone as you make adjustments to snare wires until you hear the sound you enjoy.

Many cajons don't have the adjustment feature any longer because it really doesn't make much difference.
