Heaviest Sticks On The Market?

I recently saw someone looking for used POWER Wrist Builder solid brass sticks, something like 20 oz weight. Had never heard of, anyone used them?

I've been using the Promark 419's for a while now and I love them. They're 2B's that come in at 16.5 inches. They feel huge but they feel amazing once you get comfortable with them. Tried switching back to extended 5B's for a recent gig and they tore my hands up and didn't absorb shock as well as the big guys. I'm sure Pro-Mark has a larger stick, but these are super comfortable for me and pretty readily available.

I get what you mean. I find the beefier sticks absorb shock and convert the energy and power I play with very effectively compared to thinner ones. My wrists actually start to hurt if I am trying to put power in my playing when using lighter sticks because of the reduced shock absorption and all the extra energy I have to drive through my limbs (momentum) to translate to volume and body out of an individual drum. My drums are tuned pretty low, and the VF Ralph Hardimon Hammers do a great job of activating the drums making them sound full-bodied and massive.

I have been doing some research into the different woods used for sticks, and landed on persimmon lately. I have been into jazz recently so I have been using the Vic Firth Ted Atkatz (SATK) sticks, and find for a jazz context they produce some really nice dark tones out of my cymbals and rim-shots -- as opposed to the VF Ralph Hardimon Hammers (SRH2) which make any drum sound like a mighty cannon, and have to be used oh-so-delicately on cymbals. One must never drive through crashes with the SRH2's: always gliding across the surface instead (I am so grateful I learnt this lesson before investing in Zildjian K Dark's and using the SRH2's).

The long taper and thicker circumference of both sticks give them a balanced feel and give me really good command. I am very pleased using them and shall be trying maple out in the near-future for an even softer touch.

Great Idea! ...Or, you could attach a flap at each stick-end and use them as oars if you ever go rowing!

Funny thing is: that was me. LOL!

They would be strictly used for chop building -- probably on towels or a pillow since any pad would die under the stress of those monsters.

Hah! That is a great idea for effective forearm strength building. Not sure how long my tendons would last chopping-out with those, though!
