What are the heaviest sticks you have used in your experience?
Looking for PEARL MCX 18"x16" VIRGIN BASS DRUM (or MCT or Reference Pure)and POWER WRIST BUILDERS 3S BRASS (28oz / 795 grams)(Discontinued). If you have any leads, kindly PM me! Pearl for life
Vater nightstick, Promark Maxxum 444, Promark Tommy Aldridge 2S
Thanks for your your message, latzanimal.
Interesting. I have had a couple of pairs of the Tommy Aldridge Oak 2S and compared the Promark Hickory 2S they felt lighter and softer (less dense).
I don’t have experience with the other two but have been eyeing a few pairs to try out: Vater 3S (huge stick), Vater MV8 Extended Play, and Vic Firth Ralph Hardimon Hammer.
Does anyone have experience with these?
Hopefully will try them out soon.

That's interesting as oak is typically a much denser wood than hickory...
I've often found that hickory sticks will chip away until they are unusable, where oak sticks just break...
Never take life too seriously, 'cause you'll never get out alive!!
Excuse the belated responses, everyone - I haven’t been receiving notifications.
Those are ridiculously hilarious. I might just try them out for the laughs.

So, I decided to follow in the footsteps of one my inspirations - Travis Orbin - and picked up a pair of Vic Firth SRH2 Ralph Hardimon Hammers. This was about a year ago. I since haven’t used different sticks for heavy drumming.
I reckon those 36” ProMark monsters are probably heavier, though. LOL

from a pure playability stand point,i think 2S's is the heavier weight you can live with behind a drumset.
You’d be surprised. At first my wrists and forearms were sore for weeks on, but eventually my limbs grew accustomed to the strains of using the sticks. They felt like bricks the first time I held them, and my forearms would get such a pump to a point unplayable.
I would caution anyone against using them. They are not for the faint of heart.

I've been using the Promark 419's for a while now and I love them. They're 2B's that come in at 16.5 inches. They feel huge but they feel amazing once you get comfortable with them. Tried switching back to extended 5B's for a recent gig and they tore my hands up and didn't absorb shock as well as the big guys. I'm sure Pro-Mark has a larger stick, but these are super comfortable for me and pretty readily available.
Practice makes perfect. But ultimately, I am living proof that you don't need to play well to enjoy gear. You might be surprised how much enjoyment you can get while still sucking.
