  • Possible head defect?

I was replacing the heads on the quads at the high school that I teach at, and one of the heads sounded really dead.

I am using Remo Ebony Pinstripes (which was probably a mistake). I seated and tuned each head the same (star pattern). I tried tuning imy trouble head up, then tuning it back to the appropriate pitch, I tried de-tuning and tuning back up, and every time I made sure each lug had the same pitch.

Anyways, I left the head on to sit overnight, so I'll give an update in the morning. Any ideas to possibly fix it or should I contact Remo?

Likely a dead dead. Like you said, those heads aren't that lively to begin with. Mabye take it back to the music store and see if they'll swap it out.

Cool. Thank you. Are there any tuning tricks that I can use to make it sound better? We actually ordered these heads, so they won't have them in stock and our first contest is Saturday.
