I hate the fact that 4 piece kits are associated with emo, and punk. They way a drum set is setup doesnt determine the genre of music you play. I like big double bass kits but a good four piece every now and then is a good thing. A 4 piece I reckon give's you a lot more options to be creative.

on my kit up there ^^ i play thrash/grind core/death metal/funk/rock/hard rock/nu-metal,, everything. I belive that 4 piece kits give you alot of options.

now that i have my double pedal i can play just about anything without the need for 6 toms because you really dont need them

I like 4 piece kits, it suits my playing style, ..... just about any popular song from the past 50 yrs can be played on 4 's

BUT , i am now onto 5 piece set ups because my drumming has improved........and a 13" tom is on the way which will make it 6 !
I will take 4, 5, 6 or 10 piece kits to a gig, it all depends how i feel on the day, but i will always have a spot for a nice simple 4 piece set up .

heres a couple of pics of my gear over the last year or so.

I agree, when people associate 4-pieces with a particular genre seems stupid and wrong. At the moment, i've been enjoying playing a four piece because you are limited to the amount of drums you use, and allows for more creativity to happen. Its not the amount of drums you have, its what you can do with what you have which makes you a good drummer IMHO.

For the record here's my four piece, make fun of me if ya want........
