  • My current setup

    Hello everyone,

It was a long time since I introduced my kits (the double bass metal kit and the jazz one, both in my sig), and many things have changed in my musical life, including taste, bands, people I play with, etc... So I decided to show you what I'm hitting now.

Specs: the very same Custom kit, paradise (toms) with reinforcement rings and guatambu (bass drum) shells in cherry finish.

Toms: 10"x8", 12"x10", 14"x 12" (all floating with RIMS system and unilock holders) and 16"x14" floor tom

    Bass: 22"x18" virgin

Snares: 14"x6.5" Pearl MMX in diamond burst, 10x5.5 Mapex Pro snare

Hardware: Tama Iron Cobra pedals, Mapex curved rack (modified), mapex b205 and no-brand cymbal stands, Mapex single tom holder (for the snare), Gibraltar clamps and memory locks

    Cymbals:
    Main selection:
Paiste Signature 18" and 19" Full crashes, 20" Thin china, 14" Dark Crisp hihats, 21" Silver Mellow ride
    Zildjian 10" K splash, 8" A splash, 6" Planet Z bell (from a 16" crash, really good sound)
    Others:
Sabian HHX 14" groove hats (mainly for shows, as you may seen)

    Enjoy!

It's a lot of fun, actually! I've always liked to play metal, fusion, rock, kinda everything, and in this kit I can do whatever I want, I love it. If you take a look at my previous kit (see "big kit" in my sig), you'll notice quite a change from one to another, but I was starting to suffer the setting up/tearing down process and keeping it safe from whatever I might think of. With this set it takes 30' from zero to kit ready, and less than 15' to have it stored in bags. It also fits inside my car! (I can't take passengers, but WTF)

The cymbals go along pretty well. As you may know, Signature cymbals are brilliant, but they have a medium, classic sound, not too bright, and both the Zilds and the HHX blend perfectly. Splashes are just accents so I think they fit everywhere; the hats can be questioned, but I believe the Dark Crisps are not the best rock hats I can find, and the HHX, having more weight (specially the top cymbal), will have more body and volume, which I need when playing rock shows. I love the tight, clean sound of the DCs, but sadly they are not for everything.
