  • "Say hello to my little friend"

Hello boys! No time no see!

I'am busy as hell regarding work, uni, training (I'm taking classes of Muay Thai!) and I barely have time to log in.

BUT! That doesn't mean I left the drumming world at all. I've been busy with my current band, making new songs and getting gigs.

I've been also getting some new gear for my kit (the double bass one you've already seen), like some new crashes, hardware and else.. and I've also got my new kit.

Months ago I've been talking about getting a jazz-like kit, something totally different to my double bass setup, and finally, I can introduce it to you.

Enjoy the pics! I know Ali already did

EDIT: Ooops! I forgot the specs!

MC Custom Drums, Guatambú shells in zebrawood finish (I need help here; I asked for Makassar ebony but I'm sure it isn't that finish), 12x8, 14x14, 18x16, Sabian HH Manhattan ride 22" and HHX Groove hats 14" (I'll be adding an Istambul not so soon..), and borrowed hardware from the other kit (still need a bass pedal and snare stand)

I'll try to log on more often... See you boys!

That's a sweet little set! The Zebrawood looks good, but if you didn't order it, why did they send that to you?

Did you order the tom with the mount on it or is that just how they do it? And are you going to put your kick on a riser? It seems it would be hard to play an 18 kick without one.

I wish I had a nice little kit for small gigs.

It sucks that they sent you the wrong finish, but I love the Zebrawood. The kit looks excellent.

Thanks man! I don't mind the order, the kit looks beautiful, even better that with makassar ebony (IMO), so I really love how it turned out.

They work with pretty much anything. Being an "old" kit, I wanted the tom to come out of the bass drum and with no floating system. I have that in the other kit, and this one had to be... according to what it's mean for, I guess. The tom is not perforated, though, it has 4 screws holding the plate, but the mount doesn't go through.

About the riser, it's not difficult at all, but yes, I'm trying to get one this week. I've seen the Mapex AC909, does anyone know if it does its job well?

It doesn't suck at all man. If I didn't like it, they would just re do it for me. The builder is a great friend of mine and once he said to me he would do his best for my kit. And so he did.

I knew you'd like it man! It has the same sizes of your Grestch, doesn't it?

Dude! Also, can you recommend me a 22" Istanbul ride, thin, and with a little more ping than wash? You know, to be the "opposite" to the Manhattan.

          Thanks a lot!

                Yes, pretty much

There are so many ways you can go with that - and it all depends on character.

                I have three suggestions;

If you really do mean the most opposite to a manhattan ride (washy).....then that is clearly the turk series jazz ride models (unlathed). If a manhattan ride is an ocean then a turk ride is the desert.

If that is too dark/dry for your taste then I recommend either the Vezir or Sultan series.

If you'd still enjoy a nice bit of bright wash, the Vezir series are a good choice. The Vezir series has an unlathed bottom surface which restricts the wash from building and swallowing the stick. You'll get some of the normal wash but it gets out of the way of the stick real fast and blends nicely

If you'd enjoy a bit of dark wash, the Sultans are a good choice. I'll admit I'm a big fan of the Sultans. The stick of the sultans is generally fairly bright actually - and I enjoy that combination.

Nice kit and the single flanged hoops are a nice touch.

Gotta say though, I don't think that's a 14x14 floor tom, looks shallower, 14x12 maybe (DiaXDepth).

I knew you were the right guy to ask this! Thanks a lot man. I was thinking about the Turk but I think I'll be "too much", since I really like rides to be washy for this purposes. I think the Sultan will be the best of the 2 worlds, and will definitely be a contrast to the Manhattan.

Thanks for the kind words man! And I gotta say that yes, it's a 14x14. I already have a 14x12 floating tom in the other kit, and I compared them side by side since they will be sharing the 14" drum bag.

Come on man! I thought we were friends! If I can't practice my Tiger Knee with the ones I appreciate, I can't do it with anyone

Don't worry though, I've already got a punching bag hehe

Dude! Long time no see!! I know I kinda dissapeared, but you know how things are... Tons of works, tons to study and in my free time I train my body and my drumming skills to be up to what my band needs

How's life going on for you man?

Eh.... it looks great and all but I believe the specs are wrong.
                            It appears to be a 14x12, not a 14x14.

As I've already said, it looks incredible, man. The camco/DW lugs are a great touch, and the single flange hoops are just so classy looking. I love it! It would look great with a nice Istanbul ride
