Good decision! The SMX is an awesome set of drums IMO. I own a set myself and in the same finish as yours. They look and sound great.

yes. i love them. i had coated pinstripes on them, and never really liked the sound. i bought the clears with christmas money, and they sound amazing. even the small 12 and 14 inch toms sound like cannons. simply amazing

Nice kit and beautiful finish. Are you really content with just 2 cymbals?

nope. i would be content with one more crash for most playing purposes. but i really want at least 2 more crashes, at least 1 splash, a china, and some sort of sizzle cymbal. possibly a k custom flat ride? i played one that my drum teacher owns when i sat in for him on a song at a gig sunday.

            and thats just one set.

i want to get a set of brighter cymbals too. new beat hats, some sort of a or a custom ride that i can crash, and a custom or a crashes.

but for now, what i have is all i can afford.

That's cool. At least you have a plan. I currently play with a 9 cymbal set up. 4 crash, 2 chinas, 2 splash and a ride. It seems perfect to me.

Mostly play with a 7 piece double bass set up.

Even if I only use 1 kick drum I use the same cymbal set up. When I use 1 kick it is set up like yours with the added floor tom.

I like it man... nice set-up, and drums/cymbs look very well-maintained! Great finish too! Looks versatile and easy to get around.

I have a 14"x12" (?) floor (hanging) in my set-up as well but I think I'd prefer it actually on the floor. I'm curious if any drum co. sells something to convert a hanging floor tom into a floor-floor tom :-) ...short of drilling holes for brackets myself, of course!
