Either or.
Both are amazing. Both Gretsch and Yamaha are highly regarded by jazz musicians, although the Gretsch bop kit become a total cliche IMO. Yamaha was the company that many of the old jazz icons went to after leaving Gretsch.

id probably go the gretsch, although id probably do the brooklyn series. those things look so nice!!!

my jazz setup.
our weekly gig is in a very small room. and we're a five piece with the occasional sit-in so space is very limited. great micro-brew selection though.

saturns: 20" kick, 14" snare, 12" tom (tuned low).
zildjian K's: 14" hats, 22" ride, 20" ride w/ rivet.
