New MasterWorks Snare!!! Tons of pics inside!

Well maybe not TONS of pics but anyway...

I ordered my Reference kit last friday, I also got myself a nice new addition to my snare family. It's a Pearl 14x5" 4 ply Rosewood Masterworks snare.
The sound is way more high pitched than my maple snares and it rings and sings a lot more than all my other snares. I haven't done much with the tuning yet but I quite like it as it is.

It's a natural finish The inside plies of the drum look the same as the outside, it's 4 ply pure Brazillian Rosewood.

I got a pretty good deal on it considering the fact that it's a Masterworks AND a limited edition in tip top condition from the year 2000. I got it for 525 Euro's which is about 680 US and 345 UK.

I got it from my local drumshop. I was extremely surprised to see it pop up there, since Pearl doesn't make any Rosewood snares anymore. So I think the shop bought it from someone. These snares were only made in 2000 and are limited edition so it HAS to be a second hand snare. After a few weeks I made up my mind for it and mailed the guy at the shop to put it away for me to check it out another day. Gladly it was still there and he put it away for me.

I heard they are being sold on eBay every now and then but you'll have to be pretty lucky to stumble upon one. I get the impression that these things are very rare. Anyway, if you're lucky enough to see one be sure to get it! This thing looks gorgeous but it sounds even better than it looks. I can't think of a snare that I have ever played that can match this sound. The Rosewood gives it a very special high pitched singing sound which you couldn't achieve with a maple, birch or mahogany snare.
