  • Monday, I Did Something I Had Not Done in Years

Last Monday, I went to our church and practiced drums by myself. I do not remember the last time I did that. I got out the books I like to use:

Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone
Syncopation for the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed
Rock Drumming Workbook by Chet Doboe

It went OK, but I had trouble with some of it. I am planning to do it again soon. Peace and goodwill.

Feels good to be back in the saddle again, I'm sure! Glad to hear it went easier though, the muscle memory must slowly be waking up as the cobwebs get dusted off.

I have never stopped playing, but before eight days ago, I had not practiced by myself for a long time. Most of the songs we play at church are pretty easy, so I have not had much reason to practice like I have the last two Mondays. Peace and goodwill.

I haven't touched a drum in nearly a year. I dread to think what I'll sound like by the time I'm actually able to play again.

I went about 10 years before I moved into a situation where I could play my drums again.

Like riding a bike. A little shaky at first, but it was all still there.

Drumolator raises a good point though. I can't recall the last time I sat behind the kit and just did exercises, rudiments, and general practice stuff.
