Originally posted by Thrush View PostI saw them this past Monday in London. I wouldn't have ever called myself a Tool fan - I have a bunch of albums, but I rarely put one on to listen to all the way through: I have like 4 favourite songs that I play quite a lot. But a friend wanted to go to this show since they rarely come over here, and I got kick *** seats so I went, and 75% of the reason for me was to see Danny play. I was transfixed. By far and away the most amazing drummer I've ever seen played live. No question.
And incidentally, that Tool concert turned out to be the greatest show I've ever seen. Not just because all those guys are next level musicians, but because the overall production was just as next level. For a start it's the best sounding gig I've ever been to - you could hear every single ping when the tip hit the ride; the splashes were all coherent and clear; the snare could break your neck and the kicks punched you in the chest. Everything was just so clear and crystal, the mix was outstanding. Then the light and video screen show was unbelievable. I assume that's what it feels like to be on LSD. Really REALLY enjoyed it. A lot.
The first time I saw them was a particularly dry year at Roskilde Festival. And between the sun setting behind the Orange Stage, and the amount of dust in the air I couldn't see the band from where I was standing - it was just colours, music, and alcohol in one great big cocktail
I caught the last 15 minutes of their show in Copenhagen few weeks ago, while keeping ready to work the load-out. And even then, sitting on a flightcase, only seeing the guitarist and the lights from the back, it was awesome!

We lost a bunch of posts this time. I posted Sunday night and it’s been deleted. There were also posts before mine that we’re deleted."Why is that mirror sneezing?"

Dang, I was hoping to make it to 20 years even, but I think the forum will be kaput before then.

Man, 2002 was the golden age of forums. They feel like stone tablets compared to the fast-paced internet of today.
I miss the internet circa 2002.
