Thank you to all who joined us on the Pearl Drummers Forum but we have decided to continue the conversation at the Pearl Drummers Group on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/pearldrummersgroup Although the Pearl Drummers Forum is closed, the content is still searchable as there are many informative threads on Pearl gear. We hope to see you at the Pearl Drummers Group!
Bruh, that's the worst. My hubs knocked some teeth out some years ago and he had to wait all night to go to the dentist in the AM, but was in pain the whole time. I hope you're not sensitive in that spot in the meanwhile.
To answer the question, I got a call from a dog rescue about a pup that needs a new home. We're gonna go meet him on Friday. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I'm sensitive everywhere......I was in the middle of about $30K worth of reconstructive work when covid hit. Between that and a new born, it all got shoved to the side. The crown I just lost was a temporary that was put on two years ago, and this is the second time I've lost it. No worse than the broken tooth I've had for a decade, but still. Take care of your teeth kids.
Great news on the pup. One of the highlights of my career field is getting animals placed in good homes and reuniting lost ones with their owners. A small ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark profession.
Yikes sounds painful. Good luck with the other fixes too. Keep on flossin' kids.
For the "what kind of pup", he's another Giant Schnauzer like my boy I lost last year. I loved the breed's attitude, velcro, activity levels, and low shedding. Hopefully we hit it off when we meet tomorrow. He's only 9 months old and was surrendered by his elderly previous owner who moved into a care home, not sure why a senior citizen would get a working dog puppy, but here we are!

You’d be amazed by the people that get working breeds without knowing what they’re getting into. I helped rehome a Malinois last year because someone got the dog thinking it was cute.

I owned a Chow (pictured in my Advitar) and I would not recommend that breed to most folks. But people think they are fluffy and love them. Then they realize that their personalities are hard wired. Aloof, territorial, protective, that's all instinct to them.
Loved my Chow, but they are a hard headed breed.

Oh yeah, some friends of ours with 3 kids under the age of 12 adopted what they thought was a lab/Pyrenees mix. Turns out Charlie was mostly Akbash, as identified by another mutual friend with lots of breeding experience. Charlie ended up biting the youngest child twice and it was off to a farm (literal farm, not the figurative one) where he had a much better life guarding the livestock. The family ended up with a Golden Retriever, much better choice.

Yep, my husband had a Chow growing up. Not the easiest dog to manage, but good practice for having a hard nosed working dog later. I always had terriers, also stubborn dogs.
My dog Harvey (tan) who died December ‘20 was a Lab/Boxer mix as my current puppy Umi (black). Both had/have a sweet personality. After having success with Harvey it was a no brainer.
Looks like a handsome boy, Talon. Good luck with the meeting! Yours too, Dale, look like good boys. Nothing like the love and loyalty of a dog.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we'll be picking up a corgi pup in the next few weeks. He'll have his work cut out for him herding our two cats around the house. I'm more partial to large breeds—malamutes, Rhodesian ridgebacks—but corgis are Mrs Feenix's favorite breed.

Corgi’s are a lot like Yorkies, temperament-wise. Be prepared for it to rule the household.
No. You met Harvey. Except for a few who watched him from time to time, he hated men if you didn’t remember how much he was barking. He died pretty young at 7.5 years old in 2020. He had cancer.
2020 was awful year. Lost my mom, my second father, maternal uncle, and paternal aunt all within 3 months time and then Harvey died 6 months later in December. I am so glad that year is behind me even without the pandemic.

Umi is a girl and she is easily the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. I’m with you on fairly big dogs. I hate dogs my cats can beat up. 50 pds or more for me they have to be.

My mistake. Umi looks like a good girl.
Luckily our cats are pretty docile, insofar as unlikely to fight. The older, timid one will take a few weeks to warm up to the new pup and the other is totally fearless and will likely appreciate a playmate.
