So who is going to audition for Neil Peart's job ?
I can't believe you would even have the audacity to start a thread like this. Rush always has been and always will be Geddy, Alex, and NEIL. Think of what they've stood for over the past 40 years. They didn't go looking for a new drummer in the late 90's when he broke off and they sure as hell aren't going to now. You really think Geddy and Alex would hold an audition for a new drummer at this point in their careers? What would another Rush album, let alone tour, be without Neil behind the kit? I tell you one thing, it'd be a slap in the face and disrespectful to both the fans and Neil if they did so. I can't see them having any intention to do so, especially considering their own health issues and lack of a burning desire to tour themselves.
I can't believe this is actually going to be discussed/debated...
Chris- While I agree with you in spirit, I believe I have to give you a
"Lighten up, Francis."
I'm fairly certain techxtian was attempting to be humorous. I mean, why else would someone start a thread with such a ludicrous and laughable premise if not to try to illicit a chuckle?

My reply may have came off as harsh, but I stand by it. I, along with many other Rush advocates, feel strongly about what they represent and mean to the music community, both now and over the past several decades. If the original post was meant to be more humorous rather than a debatable inquiry, my apologies. However by starting such a thread, he should expect some abrasive feedback on the matter as well

We can speculate all we want, but the facts are, RUSH may not be done just yet. Geddy is disputing that Neil said he is done (See other RUSH thread). And besides, I doubt very highly that RUSH would continue with a different drummer.
I already got the job... so I don't know what you are all talking about.
Haha You wish

I'll attempt to take this thread seriously for a second...
The only thing we would ever see would be like a one-off tribute show to Neil if he truly is retired. Rush contacts some of Neil's favorite drummers and people who looked up to Neil and were influenced by him and they do a tribute show to him the way Neil did for Buddy Rich. That's it. No way they would do anything beyond that.
