Ironically, my current Gretsch 16x 16, tunes wonderfully and reminds me of my Pearl 18 x 16.
Is it a square size thing?

      • Just got back from a week away and these beauties were waiting for me when I got back! 15" Meinl Byzance Foundry Reserve hi hats.

This completes my set of Meinl cymbals now... I think... Pics with them set up when I next go to practice, I'm itching to play them!

I still say gear is meant to be used. Unless it is a museum piece or something you plan on selling, I just do not get it. It is very OCD.

Agreed. Hell, my drums are in the back of my X3 right now in preparation for an upcoming show. In cases, yes, but drums are made to be touched, hit, carried, handled, etc.

That being said, that is a VERY nice package Gaff. The hammering on those hats is gorgeous.

              • I'm leaning towards the OCD side now. My cymbals have fingerprint marks that just will not come off. It's annoying.

Very much over the top! But since they're included tin the package when you get them I'll take them haha.

Cheers dude, the foundry reserve series are some of the most beautiful I think I've ever seen... Think they'll match my K Con well too.

And just to be clear I'm very much going to be playing these all the time, they aren't going to sit in a box being handled with gloves haha. Something this pretty needs to be seen and enjoyed (and heard) for sure!

                      Very nice!

I think its no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Session Studio Select. All together I own three toms, four toms, four floor toms, three snares, and five kicks from this line…

Damn, I’ve never really typed that out or said it out loud before. I might have a problem people…

Wow! Absolutely stunning set of hats there. I think 15” hi hats are really the sweet spot for dynamics, slosh, and chick sound.

Those Foundry Reserve cymbals have seriously made me consider switching over to Meinl lately.

I’ve been rethinking this, Matt. Being you live in my hometown and know a bunch of my friends I figured I’d stop by your house and have you show me your gear care secrets. I could even bring a cymbal or two to polish. I’m sure I could find your address online if you want me to surprise you. I’m almost positive I could get Dylan to join me.

Thanks Josh Yeah I agree, although it's actually my first time owning 15" hats! The 13" Zildjian K/Zs were my first proper pair which I probably bought 13 or 14 years ago, so this is a big change.

These seem to have a good weight difference between top and bottom cymbals (965g/1310g) which should give it good definition and chick, while keeping the slosh. I like a thicker bottom hi hat for sure.

Agree the Foundry Reserves are all stunning! Some of the prettiest cymbals I've seen. I started switching over to Meinl about 10 years ago when I bought a Sand ride, then they keep bringing out a load of really interesting innovative cymbals, so now I've made the full switch!

Congrats on the Session Studio Select. Great drums, I love mine. Being short, 24" kicks never did anything for me. Now that I am old too, lugging around a 16x22" kick was becoming an issue so I ordered the kit with a 14x20 kick. It's still fat and punchy, you would be surprised. Your kit looks awesome!

That last one was the original design and I think the most attractive of the bunch. That being said, the 8” depth is pretty ridiculous and owes less to sound than it does the fact that VP was a heavy dude and consequently played enormous drums… which were all over the top triggered anyway- including the snare.
