Drummers you base your playing style on.

Do any of you bass your drumming style on anyone? For example i never had formal drum lessons until a year ago and so my way of learning to drum was watching dave brubeck, buddy rich and led zeppelin dvd's. So my main influence is buddy rich by far, but when i go matched grip i tend to follow in the style of john bonham. I don't have even a fraction of skill that those legends have, but i draw a lot of influence from them.

base my style on you mean? i like to bass my drumming mostly around bonham and mitch mitchell (especially his fills)

And erm, It depends, sometimes I try to do some of the stuff that Aaron Spears does, other times Joe Morello, it just depends on the mood i'm in, the style i'm playing and what i've just been doing. If say i'd just watched a drum dvd or video, i'd probably be influenced by that.

I base my drumming off the culmination of music I love listening to. In grade school it was Kiss, in middle school it was Ozzy, Styx, Journey, Van Halen and Def Leppard, and in high school it was Metallica, Rush, G&R... and so on
