  • Another great online jamming site

There are some excellent sites on the net that let you jam with others.

In my last post I mentioned the Reaper/Ninjam capability.

    Now I have found eJamming.

Please check these out and tell your non-drumming friends.

(Reaper is free for 30 days and Ninjam stays free. eJamming has a 30 day triall)

eJamming looks like a very commercialized version of Ninjam. You can see the big players getting involved, like Fender et al. I like Reaper and Ninjam, but what comes after that is what worries me. You know you're in for a rough ride when the moneymen get into the game. If I sound suspicious, it's because I am. What protects you from having your music stolen? I can't fault the people who want to make money from the software, but I am concerned that eJamming, unlike Ninjam is leading to a slippery slope. It's pay-to-play, just what online jamming tries to avoid.

So you pay to play whether you're on the Sunset Strip or in your own dang house.

I like it for spontaneous jams. You pay for someone to buy, house, configure and maintain systems that let people from anywhere in the world play together. eJam is $10 a month and Ninjam is free after the Reaper $60 purchase. Both are free to try. It allows you to jam with people you never would and to do so without leaving home - which is great for us drummers. Don't play songs you care about the rights to. Have some fun.
