  • Genesis - Turn It On Again time signature

    Hi everyone

My band has decided to play Turn It On Again. I know the verses are in 13, but I'm struggling to nail the chorus section.

Does anyone have a notation of the time signatures?

    All help gratefully received.

    Best wishes
    Steve

I listened to it on youtube, and most of the song is two bars of 4/4 followed by one of 5/4. The chorus sounds like it's all in 4/4 followed by a bridge section thats the same two bars of 4/4 followed by one of 5/4. I just got home, and I'm a little buzzed, so I can't guarantee the accuracy of anything I stated. I'll listen again tomorrow.

The part where he's singing "I, I get so lonely when she's not there..." is two bars of 5/8, one bar of 2/4, two bars of 4/4, three bars of 5/8 and one bar of 7/8.

        (ONE TWO THREE FOUR)

13/4 phrased as alternating measures of 6/4 and 7/4
All I need is a TV show, that and the radio
Down on my luck again, down on my luck again

        4/4
I can show you I can show you some of the people in my life
I can show you I can show you some of the people in my life
It's driving me mad just another way of passing the day

Can be counted as 4/4, but is phrased as a heavily syncopated 3/4 to 5/4 followed by 2 measures of 4/4
I, I get so lonely when she's not there

Can be counted as 9/4 but is phrased as a heavily syncopated 3/4 to 6/4
        I,I,I,I,I!...

1st instrumental break: 9/4 but is phrased as 4/4 to 5/4 followed by 2 measures of 4/4.

13/4 phrased as alternating measures of 6/4 and 7/4
You're just another face that I know from the TV show
I have known you for so very long I feel you like a friend
Can't you do anything for me, can I touch you for a while
Can I meet you on another day and we will fly away

        4/4
I can show you I can show you!, some of the people in my life
