Clive Burr was an exceptional drummer, Iron Maiden's early years were amazing. I remember first hearing them in 1979 the new wave of british heavy metal and just fell in love with them musically. They set the stage
musically for bands like Priest, Metallica etc......
So very sorry to hear that Clive is suffering badly from Multiple Sclerosis.
I wish him well.sigpic

So very true. A lot of people think Clive was inferior to Nicko just because Nicko replaced him but that is far from the case. It is quite obvious that Nicko and Clive were in the same league as far as talent goes, some might even go as far as saying Clive was better, but as far as I'm concerned they both rule. You can't go wrong with any of Clive's stuff, I would take Killers over Virtual XI anyday!!!

Tremendous player...and a shame about his ailment.
Nice to see MAIDEN do gigs on his behalf the last couple of years to assist with his medical bills...very classy of 'Arry and the band.
FYI: I took my PDF name from a pair of his Maiden drumsticks I have from years ago. They have his name in block letters with the phrase "Hit 'Em Hard" printed alongside.LUDWIG Classic Maple Drums

Clive was a great drummer and a huge influence. I loved his playing, his cymbals and his kit. It's so sad that he's suffering from ms. I think it's great that Maiden show that they still care. I also think is cool that it's Adrian who has the most contact with Clive!
ANd Janick looks like he's 65. I love Nicko's shirt!Yern desh bern, de rit de git der goo; yern desh, de bern desh, de umm, BORK BORK BORK

What is this Multiple Sclerosis?
Clive is/was great
EDIT: I saw further down in the interview it said what it is...I don't have a gambling problem, I'm winning, and winning is not a problem.
That's like saying Michael Jordan has a basketball problem, or Def Leppard has an awesomeness problem.
So why don't y'all just pour some sugar on that?

Same here... no disrespect to Nick either (he's a great guy and I've enjoyed interviewing and photographing him quite a bit...)
But there was just something about Clive's playing I preferred live and on record (with the emphasis on his great hi-hat work and unique tom fills). Listen to tracks like "Murders In the Rue Morgue", "Another Life", or "Genghis Khan" from Killers...and of course other classics from the first 3 records like "Hallowed Be Thy Name", "Remember Tomorrow", "22 Acacia Ave", "Prowler", "Phantom Of the Opera", etc...LUDWIG Classic Maple Drums

I have always loved Clive's playing. I was sad to see him leave Iron Maiden years ago. I wish he was in better health these days. It is sad to see such a major force in metal stuck in that chair. I pray he overcomes it.
By the way..... did you know Clive was suppossed to be the drummer for Dee Snider's band Widowmaker in the 90s? According to Joe Franco, who was my teacher around 92, he said that Clive wanted to stay in Europe, and Dee wanted to keep the band based in the US. That's when Joe got the call from Dee. As we all now know, Widowmaker never became that famous, and it looks like Clive made the right decision.

Comparing Clive and Nicko is like comparing apples to celery. Each has/had his own distinctive style- neither is "better" or "worse".
That being said, Maiden have shown remarkable class in their helping of Clive in his time of need. There's something very "British" about what they're doing. It's called "honor and integrity and loyalty"...they're helping their mate, pure and simple. I can't IMAGINE an American band doing the same thing, I just can't.sigpicStill Way Too Much Crap
