Wouldnt it be better to buy heavyer heads and ditch the rings, they will do your head in on recording, they rattle.

Good job dude, nice to see someone setting thier stuff up right. The RemO's sound GREAT when you mic your drums up, they kill a lot of ring which is a good thing. I've got nothing but compliments on how my drums sound so far and I have rings on my toms.

Also I put a Holz in mine, a hole in the Bass reso is definitely the way to go, I don't know where people get the idea that no hole is the best. I do agree the Holz thing changes the sound a lot though, best thing seems to be to buy heads with holes already in them.
