  • Needle in a Haystack

I'm new to the forum so thanks for adding me! I have a Pearl Export kit and I'd like to add another matching floor tom without spending an arm and a leg. The color of the kit is aqua sparkle #703 and a 14", 16" or 18" will work. I've searched online sources with no luck so does anyone have any suggestions on how I can find what I'm looking for? I'm open to re-wrapping a different make of floor tom if I can get the Pearl aqua sparkle wrap material. By the way, Sonor makes a kit that matches mine almost exactly so the tom I'm looking for doesn't necessarily have to be a Pearl.

The EXX1414F/C703, EXX1616F/C703 and EXX1816F/C703 are all special orders (non-stocking). We do not sell this particular wrap as it comes straight from the factory for the Export production-line kits and components.

Thanks, Al. Do you have any suggestions on other options I could try? And if I special ordered the EXX1414F/C703, what could I expect to pay?

^ it looks like you've tried searching for online retailers. Might try auction sites such as eBay, reverb.com to see if anyone is selling individual EXX drum components. Retail the 14" list for $285.99 currently and most retailers offer at least 40% off MSRP or better. Good luck to you.

Alright, so you're probably not going to like this answer, but here's what I did. My old Forum kit was finished in a silver sparkle wrap that I believe was only made for a year or two (c. 2006-2007, somewhere around there), and when I finally could afford to add on, the finish was obviously gone and the Forum FX was discontinued and replaced with the Forum FZ. Well I just bought a 14" in a random finish (I think it was Zenith Gold?) and kept the kit mismatched for a few years, and then finally stripped them all down to bare shells and refinished them.

I'm sure you could probably find a wrap on jammin sam or drum bum that looks similar to that, but I'm thinking this was a proprietary finish made for Pearl, so getting an exact match for it is probably going to be tough.

Good luck man. Click image for larger version

Yes, but different drum, and also a special order.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I've reached out to my local Guitar Center to see if they can get a quote for a new EXX1414F/C703. I've also reached out to Sonor to see if they sell their aqua Galaxy Sparkle which looks exactly like the Pearl C703 aqua sparkle wrap. Meanwhile, I'm still combing through the ebay, craigslist, reverb and Facebook Marketplace listings. What's heartbreaking is this... my local Guitar Center has a 14" Sonor floor tom in their drum room in aqua Galaxy Sparkle. Perfectly matches my kit. They said they can't sell it to me as it belongs to their Sonor rep. They're using it to hold drum sticks for sale.

Update - I special ordered the EXX1414F/C703 for $149. The price is the best deal I could find for the exact drum that matches my kit. I should have it by Christmas. Thanks again for everyone's support.
