  • Rehearsal clip .. blues-rock tune inside

Still waiting for the MLB all star game to end.. this thing is brutal going 15 innings and the AL finally won (holy crap! Morneau just scored as I was writing this)

So here's my first try at uploading some rehearsal material. Give it a listen, post your thoughts about the tune or let me know how you think my drums sound

note - the bass player wasn't at practice, so don't expect to hear this song played like this at one of our shows. Also, the PA being used is a crapbox, so you can disregard the vocal level.

If I recall correctly, I setup the tape recorder with a Samson kick drum mic setup right in front of my kit, so that's why the drums sound a bit up-front

Russell Martin put on a show at the All Star Game that made me proud!!!! Die hard Dodger Fan from Pasadena here!!! I was going back and fourth from The Who to the game and digging both!!!! Home field for world seies is American League again 00** *********. Keith Moon was a God!!!!

Your drums were way way way up front for that classic blues rift that we've all played all of our lives. I had my Sound Blaster speakers way down so as not to wake up the lady (mine), as she is allready mad at me tonight. I'll have to hear it again in the morning to give an honest review. Love playing that blues rift!!!! Timeless!!!! Wish I knew how to record my crew on the web; but someday!!! I'll write again tommorrow and thank you for sharing!!! The drum sound is solid!!!!

I just read that your bass player was absent and just the drums are solid!!

Hey man thanks a ton for the feedback, its something that I had recorded more or less for personal review, just to get an idea of how we sound and usually I would have the tape recorder right behind me.. which gives the sound an entirely different feel. (aka its all snare buzzing and hi hat, with a little squeaking from the drum throne needing some DW-40)

Pasadena's a cool town, I go there with some homies from High School down to some of the old city spots. I'm a Red Sox fan myself, so anything I can see of them on TV that means I can't turn the tube off unless they get the W.

That was awesome seeing JD Drew finally come through.. this season he's a monster, I knew last season was just an anomaly from him having to adjust to American League pitching. Just can't wait till Ortiz gets back next week and then the Shawx will start crushing again

Oh, and if you have a good computer its really really easy to transfer recordings right from a tape to the hard drive. I just have my trusty $45 radio shack tape recorder, plug a male-to-male RCA cable from the headphone jack into your computer's Line-In/Mic port, and I use a program Audacity.. That's the best audio editing program I've ever tried, and its free .. none of that 30-day trial stuff to worry about. Full version at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

            I have a y-splitter mini-RCA cable something like this
one end is has my speakers plugged in to this adapter, and the other female end goes to the tape recorder, so I can monitor the audio levels that are being recorded.

You're from Canada, live in LA, and are a Red Sox fan? I wish I could be back in the Big Town and live in Dodger Stadium!!!! And you could!!!!!! We had J D DREW for a year and I have no idea why Colletti didn't keep him. I like the Red Sox because I hate the Yankees!!! I like the little Angels best in the American League though and I like them quite a lot!!!!

I'll show the schematics you gave me to my guitar player and maybe he could hook me up!!!! The Who have been on Classic VH1 all week and I wish I had Keith Moon's energy!!!!! They had another drummer show us how he played things and was really unique!!!!

I have 1 thing Keith needed more than anything in the world and that is sobriety!!!! Comming up on 21 years sober!!!! What a ride!!!!!

Got to love playing that rock n roll every chance every time!!!!! Can't Explain!!!!!!

I was born out in the northeast, so I'm only Canadian by blood since my pops was born in Quebec but I was hatched stateside and moved out to Cali 10 yrs ago this month. I've been to a handful of Angels games but never been to Dodger Stadium. or as some around here would call them the Dawyers!!
Amen to the rock & roll, my life wouldn't be as it is without it

                  Nice dude! Sounds good!

And about the All Star Game, I'm kinda upset. They worked my boy Lidge too hard the whole night, having him up in the pen 6 times and throwing over 100 warm up pitches. They gotta come up with some alternative solutions to extra inning games.

thanks for the comments from everybody who checked this thread out, keep em coming anybody else who gets the chance to listen.

I think a Home Run Derby would be a great way to end an all star game that goes into extra innings.. maybe once it goes 11 or 12 innings, that will keep the pitchers from being overworked and still be fun for the people that stay awake
