  • Southwest Championships 2011 - San Antonio, Texas

My wife and I are going home (for me) to San Antonio over this weekend, and were wondering about this show in general.

What time does it start? Where is it, usually? Interesting things to do and see at this event? Etc.

Also, I know we've got some Texas corps cats... who's going?

Since DCI hasn't put up any information yet, it's kind of hard to tell exactly what time it starts and where it's going to be. I would wager it starting around 7ish, since they have the show split between Saturday and Sunday.

I'll probably be going since I'll be in San Marcos for the summer; and then I'll be going to the Tour of Champions show in Round Rock at my old high school.

DCI still shows the actual competition on Saturday, the 23rd. I really hope they can keep it in the Alamodome. Judson stadium is crap and I don't want to drive all the way to SA for that. I probably will though because the Houston show is a stupid G8 schedule and I won't be able to see my favorite corps (Crossmen, Madison, etc)

Well, you know I'll be there! I'm not buying tickets to see the show, but I'll be videotaping lots most of the day.

I'll be chillin' in the lot for a good bit, but I'm counting on your videos when I go in!

Haha, okay, you got it. I'm gonna try to tape as many groups as I can, hopefully they're spread out just enough that I can try to get the good ones.

If you have any you want in particular, let me know. I was planning on trying to film Cavaliers, Bluecoats, Cadets, Blue Stars, Madison, SCV, and Crossmen; but I'll pretty much film anyone I can find.

I'll be at the show Saturday and and having beers with some Madison staff at Dicks Last Resort on Sunday. Can't wait!

The show was great but the beerfest is cancelled - my buddy is stuck doing clinics with the TX Bandmasters all day. I guess it's Capt American day at the movies.

Nice. The Wife and I loved it. The Cadets... man... they're pulling ahead, and it's well deserved. Easily the best show out there.
