  • With Paul Rennick moving to Santa Clara Vanguard...

mean that The Vanguard will soon be announcing a switch to the DieNasty brand of drums/percussion? I certainly hope not, but would not be surprised if it happens.

God, I hope not. Vanguard's had some of the best sounding drums with Pearl. Who's PR picking up in Rennick's place?

I doubt SCV will switch over; Phantom switched not because they no longer liked Pearl, but the fact that for the last few years they've had some financial pitfalls with the organization. Switching to Dynasty made more sense financially as Rennick is one of their main artists, just like them switching to Jupiter horns because the hornline caption head was a Jupiter artist.

If anything, I say look for SCV to change from Vic Firth to Innovative, but not switch away from Pearl. They still have a contract with Pearl to use their equipment. When the time comes for them to renew the contract, or change it or whatever, I don't think you're gonna see a change from one drum company to the other, SCV has been using Pearl for over 20 years and they're not in the same financial issues that PR has had.

That being said, I'm excited to see what Rennick brings to the table in Santa Clara, should be fun to see SCV back on top again.

This should be an interesting year for SCV.
but I doubt they will switch to dynasty.
Shane Gwaltney is a dynasty artist and mcm and spirit play pearl.

I also doubt the switch will happen.

What happened to Gusseck? Did he decide to leave, AGAIN, or are they just picking up Rennick? (Which I doubt... too many cocks in the roost, methinks.)

Maybe...I haven't heard anything good from him in the last 10 years, his writing style is, somewhat negative. I don't like how he condones drum solos, yet turns around and says they're okay.

That's what I've been hearing as well. That would be nice to have his writing back on the field. I've always liked his writing with the Cavaliers, when McIntosh was the Caption head.
