  • DM or Armory?

I know this is a Pearl forum, but I’m torn between the two kits. I play TAMA and it’s my showpiece kit, but I was looking for a great secondary kit and I do trust the Pearl brand. The problem is that my ears are telling me to go Armory instead of the DM. I wanted an affordable maple kit considering my TAMA SC cost over 2k for everything.

Anyone else had this dilemma and what are your experiences with the two? Yes, I know the Mapex is a hybrid shell as is my TAMA, so I did want something in maple, but the Armory just sounds so nice by way of comparison to the DM.

I’m open to any thoughts or suggestions.

(And yes, who wouldn’t consider a Renown? I’m trying to keep the cost low on a new kit).

As much as I love Pearl kits, I would go with the Armory.

I believe you answered your own question hahaha. Also you should inquire about add-ons cost before you get the kit if that is something you want for later on. There might be a great difference in price there.

Not sure where you are, but how’s the used market in your area?

TBH I love my two Decade kits but, unless you have to have the warranty or have specific sizes that only pearl could satisfy, I would go with the Armory.
