  • Decade Owners- Opinions on Weight

I am getting rid of my Crystal Beats because they are too damn heavy to gig with. I am thinking of Decades because I love the Pearl white finish and have heard good things about the sound. How are these in terms of weight? Im wondering if they are compariable to Yamaha Stage Customs or Gretsch Catalinas. I would likely be going with 20 14 12 setup.

They don't seem particularly heavy. Certainly no comparison to the References that I replaced them with.

I have a 20" fusion kit and they're pretty light kits. Our band's 17 year old daughter carries my bass drum about at gigs quite happily for me. I used to have an '03 ELX (22/10/12/14) that was pretty light too and the DM is lighter than that kit, I'd say...

You guys don't? You should get one, they're great for carrying stuff!

I play for her parents in their band and she's a singer now she's getting older. It's a bit like the Jackson's but without the psychological abuse and stolen wages. We all look out for her though because she's 17 and lots of creepy guys go to gigs it seems, so she's the 'band's daughter'...

Oh, cool! I was a bit worried Brits might be a bit under-represented here... Nice to meet you!

Interesting you say the Crystal Beats are heavy. They must be really thick or it’s the hardware because my acrylic kit is fairly lightweight.

I have owned a large decade maple kit for a little over a year now, and its very light. I noticed this when I dug out my 27 year old pearl export that my dad got for me back in the early 90s.
