  • Actually what do they mean when then say “DARK CYMBALS”

Is it the initial sound, the overall tone or the fade towards the end?

Generally lower pitch resulting in more stick definition. Shorter decay in most cases. They do not always recored the best over tradition cymbals I find.

That’s what makes Paiste’s Dark Energy series so unique. I think it has both or at the very least, sits in between.

Thats great but I do notice no matter how many times you clean a cymbals there will always be some sort of black residue left.

That black residue is metal, in cleaning them you're pulling metal out of them. In turn that'll make them more brittle and they'll eventually crack because they'll be both brittle and thinner than they were.
