These 12” Zildjian K Sound Lab prototype hats came in.
They were made for, and signed (with two messages) by Dennis Chambers.
By coincidence they match my other (15”, 20”, and 24”) K Sound Lab prototypes exactly. That was the reason why I bought them, as I don’t really care about artists items (but the legend played them and his messages are a cool addition :-D).
I will use these as aux hats in the setup as soon as my mounting parts come in.

From what I remember of their description, they are both a little hefty in weight for their size. Dennis has been know to use two Mastersound BOTTOMS as an articulate set of hi hats. I thought they were a good looking set I'd like to mix-up and pair with my 12" ReMix series hi hats (which btw, would be a perfect compliment to your current set up).Last edited by Josh Conover; 11-10-2020, 12:29 AM.sigpic

They are quite light in playing, especially opened (maybe even a little bit too light and maybe that was the reason he didn’t kept them?).
But as they have a proper body and I will use them as closed hats anyway, they will do more than fine. And as they are K prototype’s with the same round hammering, they match up better than anything else out there.
I am glad my prototype set is almost finished. A nice 16” and/or 18” would be nice too.

Right now, I'm playing a Z Custom Power Ride, that has such a pleasing tone and a killer bell.

Very cool. Was this back when Zildjian still offered the brilliant finish as an option on their traditional cymbals? I remember that being a thing when I purchased my first serious set of hi hats. They were the A series Mastersounds and I ordered them through Interstate in the brilliant finish.
Most recently I picked up the new Trap Hats from Zildjian's Concept Shop. They are made of whatever alloy is used in their ZHT and I Family cymbals. They were only $150 new straight from Zildjian. I don't really mess around with these other alloys too much with the exception of the Trashformers, Spiral Trash, and the FX Stackers. Excited to see how they work with my other 14" hi hat tops and bottoms.sigpic
