No. Most cymbals are made of bronze.
Bronze like brass, is an alloy of two or more metals.
Bronze is primarily copper and tin.
Brass is primarily copper and zinc, with both alloys often containing small amounts of other elements.

Someone is a little lost here
      But PYRRHO explained it.
The cheapest cymbs are usually brass and they sound like s***.

          great thread.

I'd like to contribute, and warn some of you. NEVER clean Rudes with any cleaner if you don't want to change the way they look. the brown/green/orange coat goes away in no time. I washed my ride very carefully, with Paiste cleaner, and the color went away in a couple of seconds. just use soap and water to preserve the raw look. here's how my ride looks now, it's almost a reflector finish... hopefully I like it.

and for the record, that's a pic of the cymbal when it was brand new.

^ I like the look of that cymbal. It still has that "raw" look to it, but it's definitely not the way RUDEs usually look. It's unique.

great thread. you missed one type of cleaning method.

don't clean your cymbals at all.

i actually should clean my cymbals cause they are brilliant and at the moment they are quite dirty, but who really has time for all of that S***. I say this only because it is nearly impossible with my schedule to clean 15+ cymbals every couple of weeks.

Watch our for brilliant finish and the isopropyl alcohol

Thanks alot but just as a warning I tried the isopropyl alcohol luckily in a little area before I did the whole thing and it dulled the brilliant finish on my Sabian AAX so before you put alcohol on your brilliant finish check first.
