  • OFFICIAL TOOL 10,000 days thread

T - 21 days until the release, theres a few diffrent threads going about this. I want to make an official one so we can condense people into one spot.

I want to share a interview from a french magazine, i found a rough translation of the facts. And for the french members feel free to add anything i missed...

    - they didn't gave titles during the listening session, because the weren't sure about them at the time. Yet Adam is talking about "lost keys" and "rosetta".
    - "Lost keys" is "the introduction to "rosetta"".
    - Maynard was there at the beginning of the writing process, than left before coming back. Adam says that it's better than for Lateralus (Maynard only came when all the songs were already written), but he hopes Maynard will be here all the time for the next album.
    - How Adam would define Tool : "there are a lot of maths, it's heavy and you're not gonna like it."
    - There is no DVD in the works. There were plans, but they prefered to make a new album. The new album and the tour are the priorities.
    - They love France.
    - The album is their most personnal, it's "coming from the guts". Some usual rant about how Bush is stupid and how the album is about frustration. But Danny adds that the approch to politics in Tool is different from the one of APC, they don't want to adopt a close political discourse which would be fast outdated.
    - The reviewer says that Danny is more busy than ever on the drums. Danny answers that he's not looking to play a lot of notes but wants to densify the sonic space and to dynamise the music, but that nevertheless the king in the movie Amadeus would say about his playing : "Too many notes!".
    - APC is over.
    - They would like to get rid of labels and to do everything on themselves, and they think artists will be able to do so soon.
    - They don't take themselves seriously at all.

The rest is pretty much what we've already read.
The interviewer gives his quick impression on the album : "With a enormous bass sound, this new dynamic album mixes big grooves with cutting metal riffs and a real anger. [...] The 11 pieces of this record, 77 minutes of often oppresive music, leaves us breahtless."

Yea i dont wana here any speculation and anything about track or album names

Anyway this to me seems to be an amazingly put together album. Just the sheer secrecy around it and the time and dedication put into this. I like that the band spend a good chunk of time working on their music. Unlike bands who are contracted to make a certain # of albums a year ext... TOOL spends the perfect amount of time making sure everything is on par, and not getting any rushed crap on their Cd's. I think this speaks highly on why all their albums are so great, and why hardly any one of their songs is anything but an EXPERIANCE.

that is why after they put out an album every single song is played on the radio not like other bands who only get there single on the radio

I got an advance torrent of this album....

                  ...it was a joke.

no seriously, it wasn't actully tool. It was a guy playing on a guitar with terrible singing, and a terrible recording with the same track names. I was pretty pissed.

I'm not really excited for this one, I will be when it's out. I have a feeling it's a joke.

I think it'll ruin Tool, personally.

I think I'll try and fight the devastation of knowing I'll never see my all-time favorite band to talk about Tool...

Okay, uhm. Yeah. I'm excited to hear the album because I have loved every single song ever put out by Tool and that's something that's almost impossible to do. But...I'm also worried it's going to take away from Tool because I was hoping for a more Lateralus feel instead of really heavy like they've been saying. But then again, it is Tool so how can I be dissapointed?

                              I don't know

I am very angry with Billy Howerdel at the moment.
