Have you seen this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2512527670&category=10175 ? It's maple too, and it looks like a better deal. If you want that in a different colour, just put a wrap on it. But if the deal you're talking about is really $150 CAD, then go for it, that's cheap for a maple snare.

I haven't heard of Genesis Drums. Where they were made, Taiwan?

Genesis is not a drum company, its a line of drums made by Epek Percussion. Epek is a Canadian custom drum company and has a website here. (http://www.epekpercussion.com)

Make your own decision! :p ;)

I have a maple 3x13, and I love the sound - lots of crack but with warmth and body to it.
However, I'd imagine a 3x12 would lose some of that body and it would be a higher/sharper crack.
For $150 Hoser, it sounds like a good deal. If you are playing death metal, it may not suit your sound, but if you are looking for an occasional main snare and you feel it fits your budget, why not.

I'd find out what the scratch & dent to it is, first. Then maybe find out what else you could do to your setup for $150 CND. Ask yourself if you want the snare because it is on sale, or if you really want a 3x12 maple snare.

Its so cheap because it was used for a demo show... as far as a know there isnt any blemishes. Plus it has puresound snarewires which is always a bonus. I have the 13x3 steel piccilo from pearl. But ive heard alot of good things about maple snares and Epek. I play punk and hardcore, but i like to switch things up every so often and throw in some jazz/funk, whatever i feel like drumming. But the only band Im in is a punk band.

Ed Peck of Epek is a really great guy. I had him custom-build me a shell for my Pearl Free Floater. I absolutely love this drum!
