Has anybody used the Tama Air Ride snare stand? I like the idea of using a suspension mount like you would with a regular tom but I'm kinda uneasy about smacking the hell out of my snare when its only held by the top hoop. Anybody think its worth it?

I have used the Air ride system and it does make a slight difference. The rim clamps go almost ahlfway around the rim so there wont be any excessive stress on it. My take on it is this, if you need a new snare stand anyhow, then try one, but dont buy it to replace an exsisting perfectly good stand.

Slip, how heavy of a snare did you use it with? And did it leave any marks on the hoops?

I used it on a 6.5x14 maple snare. It wont leave marks on the hoops. It clamps straight down, it wont slide or scratch anything.

I'm getting new hardware for my MRX when it comes in so I figured I might try one. I'll be mounting a Stewart Copeland signature (5x14 brass) which I doubt is that much heavier than a 6.5 x 14 maple.

Thanx for the advice, Slipknot
