View Full Version : Pearl needs more 13" snares ?

I think Pearl needs to offer more 13" snares, they've become pretty popular. If you remember the 13" Free Floater poll the demand for one was pretty high.

Right now pearl only has the Omar Hakim sig snare which is 5x13, and a few 3x13 picollo's.

I think 13" snares should be offered in the masters and session series as an option, and maybe the export too. Sizes of 5.5x13 and 6.5x13 would be good.

What do you guys think ?

Yes! Definately a good idea. A 13" FF and maybe a 13x7 effects snare.

:D

As of now I have Pearl's 13x3 steel Piccolo, and I like the 13" size, fits nicely between the legs, has good sound, all of that, but I want a deeper snare sound, so a 13x6 or something would be nice, but they just have a 13x5.5 steel sensitone, I think. I WANT MORE!!!

Thing is, the 5.5x13 sensitone was discontinued for some reason if i remember correctly.

I would love a 5.5"x13" steel free floater or 5"x13".
Anyone who likes 13" snares should check out the tama 6"x13" maple. It is fairly cheap at GC.

yea, more 13" snares, like my 13x11" snare that I converted from a tom, haha! :D But seriously, I'd like to see some 13x6 and 13x7 snares offered as standard.

And yes, I was serious about my 13x11" snare...

Don't count the 5.5" x 13" SensiTone Steel Power Piccolo out just because it's steel. My wife gave me one of those for my birthday, and it's outstanding!

I love my Omar Hakim, was thinking of getting rid of it till I recorded with it, now were best mates. The only thing that could come between us is a deeper 13"

I'll second that, I've been using the same drum as yours
as my main snare for over 6 mos. now, and I'm quite
satisfied with it...for now anyways:D , I may get a nice
maple snare eventually.

And for $149...it wasn't too hard on the wallet either

yeah i agree that they should make more 13" snares. they also need to make some aluminum free floaters and give all of the free floaters the 13" option.

I agree with the FF idea. I also think they should make an
insert of choice to go in the 13" ff as well (if it came into creation)
Inserts like oak, mahogany, titanium, hastolly, bronze,....
shucks I don't know, maybe even redwood, or petrified wood
if its possible:)

The 13 inch free floater idea would be great to have. I have been looking for an all maple 13*4 picollo because I really like that size so maybe a tama artwood snare would have that size I think.

I really like the 13x3(I think) piccolo. It's so great. I might get one someday...

You can fit any type of shell into a free floating craddle as long as it's a 6ply shell according to Pearl's spec which is 7.5mm thick. Get a bearing edge cut on one side and leave the other side uncutl, put a finish on it and boom you have a custom FF.
