hey my old snare drum head is wearing out and i need a new one, what head would you suggest, i am looking for a high pitched really poppy sound....i tried the evan heads with the mini holes in them, it was solid but it just didnt have the pop i want...any suggestions?

you could go for kevlar... they are more expensive, but they can be tightened to no end... I Think you would break either your lugs or your shell before you broke the head. if you know much about marching snares and how they sound, part of the pop that comes from a marching snare is due to the kevlar heads used. well hope that helped.

actually i think the Poppyness of a snare doesent come from the head but from the snare itself, do not overtighten your snare, the lugs will pop off, the bearing edge will go bad, ETC.. and it would sound choke, get a 10x6 Popcorn snare if u like a really POP into your HEAD!

yea...well i was wanting to buy something from remo or evan, i just really need something tight and poppy
