How exactly loud are these things from OCDP. SLipknot1 you should probly be the one answereing to this post.
Cause if its way too loud, i might just go with a reguler OCDP snare.

They're like howitzer cannons.

They are loud all the time, but they do have a wide tuning range (the ones I've tried at least), so some tunings are louder than others.

You should get one.

Like any snare, how loud they ultimatley get depends on how hard you hit them. They will on average be almost twice as loud as a regular snare of the same size. Which means you will not have to play as ahrd to get the same sound. Its kind of nice to not have act like you are trying to kill your snare. Ghost notes will be a lot easier too. As far as Crack goes, that all depends on how many plies you get. If you want something just as powerful as a brass snare, but with the warmth of maple, go for a 30 ply. If you want a little less, go 20 ply. 10 ply will sound the closest to a normal snare.
Remember, the ports make the snare louder, the thickness increases the "crack".

Then get a 20 ply. A 30 ply will be too much.
