vote and tell me why

Thats like a vote for less expensive, high production, and more expensive with low production.

I would go with the N&C because it's an awesome, powerful drum, but it carries quite a price tag. You could prolly get that same sound out of the Pearl.

I have an Ultracast and it is a HUGE rip-off of the Noble and Cooley. The only big difference is that the Ultracast has triple-flanged hoops while the N&C has diecast. What made me choose the Pearl over the N&C is the lower price (the N&C was about a buck fifty more) and the better snare strainer. The SR-017 strainer on the Pearl is so much quieter and has a more positive action compare to the clamshell strainer featured on the N&C. Besides, I spent the $150 difference on two cymbals. Yay to that.

Funny you should ask between these two, there's one thread from the Evans board that always sticks in my mind due to the honest opinions of two very experienced and knowledgable members in particular. I was pleasantly surprised by what I read actually.

yeah, i am quite surprised...GO PEARL!
i suppose its easier for a larger company to really make a better drum, because of the money, the machinery, and R&D it takes to put a drum into production.

The best Aluminum snare is the Yamaha Dave Weckl 14x5.5 Signature followed by the 14x6.5 model of it.

Because it's Dave sig snare or because you own one?

I'm just joshing you dude. I'd prob go Ultracast, but they both intrigue me to no end.

"I wish I had bought the Ultracast because the N&C that I got instead its the same exact thing for more money."

That's what he told me while I was at my lesson.

I voted Ultracast because it's almost the same thing as the N&C for less money.

I'm not sure about aluminium snares... I haven't ever heard one being played... Then again, aluminium is a pretty sweet metal...

If you doubt my word, ask Monsieur Mangetout of France. He's eaten a plane over a year so far. XD
