I've been without a drum kit since about 2011 when my band broke up, everything got too hard and I sold my kits (a MCX Masters and early 90's Export). However the itch never went away and over the past few months its gotten stronger, to the point where I've been looking for another kit.

I didn't want to spend a fortune but didn't want a rubbish kit either, I would have just sold it quickly or not enjoyed playing again. I looked at a few second hand Session and Master's kits but the sellers wanted too much for them all, just ridiculous money. So I looked into what was available new and after looking at the new Exports, I decided a better investment was a Decade kit.

Colour choice came down to the Solid Yellow or Deep Red Burst and I decided on the DRB. Sizes are 22x18, 10x7, 12x8, 16x16 and 14x5.5, but I'll just use the 12" and 16" toms, the 10" probably won't come out of the box. I also bought a Paiste PST8 cymbal pack with hats, 2 crashes and a ride.

I haven't played them yet, still setting them up and waiting on my 930 series throne (which the store has ordered in). But first impressions on the quality is that they're stunning drums, really nicely finished off. My only criticism would be that it would have been nice if the BD hoops were finished off on this coloured kit like they are on the Solid Yellow.

Awesome man! Please let us know what you think of them once setup.

I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me order a DMP set in faded glory.

Nice choice on the color, that finish looks good. A good kit without blowing the bank.

+1. That finish is much nicer than I would expect to see on a kit at this price point!

Looks real nice.

Its unfortunate that the kick mount plates are so huge and ugly. I wonder how easy it would be to take a pic of the finish somewhere else on the drum and then create a laminate sticker to go over it...

Its odd that its a satin finish aluminum(?) and not shiny chrome like the hardware on the kit.

I agree, I've actually removed it and I'm just using the normal tom arm.

Really good, very impressed, I think they're a really nice sounding drum. I can't differentiate between my old MCX and these. Although I do want to change the heads to something, perhaps coated... recommendations???

That's awesome, I really hope my wife lets me order a set of dmp's soon.

I really dig the sound I get from my Remo suede emperors over clear ambassadors.

Man, those are gorgeous. I love 4 piece kits. So classy and elegant. I really dig that kit boss. Amazing. Btw, check out coated vintage emperors. Best coated head imo

Damn, son, that's a stunning kit.

Someone on the forum made a cover plate from some wood veneer stained and coated to match their drum. It blended really well. You could try something similar?
