I sold my kit in 1981, a couple months ago picked up a nearly new RP 3pc kit and could not be happier. Since then I added another mounted tom and a few cymbals. I am amazed with the sound of these, the subtle tunability, they are rich! I am loving the sizes too 20x16, 14x14, 12x8, 10x7

Those smaller toms always look like they have sleigh bells attached to them.

Great kit and sizes. Love the natural finish too. Time to add an 8x7 : )

Welcome Jim, that's a quality way to renter drum ownership. Much enjoyment to be had!

The STL-100 "mini" lugs look a lot nicer than the stock swivel tube lugs.

Regardless, your Reference Pure kit is really nice! Nice sizes, right Justin?!

I'm not sure advantages / disadvantage to the resonant kick head other then for a mic? But I've no plan to mic it. Clear mad batter . I m not a heavy hitter at all but similar to what I find with the toms it sounds great (better?) the harder its hit.

Thanks, Honestly had a lot of trepidation. 50/50 thought I would play 'em once realize that was a long time ago... I'm living in the past... yada yada. And sell them. That's not been the case more the opposite. I play when ever I can (leave work early when I can) picked up a pad since i travel some for work. Actually took a couple lessons. Again i thought a waste but more trying to match it.

I think buying such a good sounding kit has a lot to do with it. Even though I sound bad the kit doesn't. That makes it more fun to play.

I agree. Unfortunately, they don't come on the stock natural finish drums.

Thank,s I am really enjoying it. Since last year added 10x8 rack and 16x16 floor toms. I *think* I am done with an 8x7 though.
