Still have a matching snare and 14x14 Floor Tom on order (should be here soon), but the main part is here. 16x22, 8x12, 16x16 in Bombay Gold Sparkle. Love it!

Beautiful Looking, and great tone. Can't wait to gig them out! While I'm waiting for the matching snare, playing it with my 6x14 Tama Starphonic Bubinga Snare.

Fantastic kit! Love the finish. Wouldn't surprise me though if you end up preferring the Starphonic snare over the matching one.

Stunning. Congrats on the new kit. What's up with the resonant head? Is that standard issue?

Looks great! I really like that finish!!!

What do you think of the Sledge Pad? You're one of the first few people I've seen with one on the forum. I've been following them on Insta for a year now... Kinda want one.

Sounds good without it, but the sledgepad really adds some control to the tone, and low end. Sounds good!!

Just curious....What is different about that head? Are you referring to the black pattern in the bottom? If so, that is just a shadow of the foam in the bottom from the light coming through the window. I had a similar thing with my DW pillow when I put the coated reso head on....if that is what you are referring to :)

I would guess that you will be right! My favorite snare that I've ever owned. I will likely setup the matching snare as a side snare, will be a cool look anyways.

Alex - great looking kit. Congratulations!

Thanks!! Pearl has really gone above and beyond with this kit. The finish needs no words, absolutely stellar.. but what you might miss is the fact that these drums sound great. One of the best sounding kits I've heard. To some degree I almost prefer the tone I get out of them versus my Reference Kit.

I also have one. It's alright, kind of deadens up the kick slightly too much for my personal taste but my kick sounds great from out front so I can't really complain

Thank you!

I have a Reference Kit, 22,10,12,13,15,16... in Scarlet Fade.. I love it. However, I can tell you.. you will be plenty happy with a MCT Kit. Save a bunch of money, and it sounds great. Also, MCT kit is much easier on the back lol. Reference Kit is heavy as hell!

I just now saw this, meaning late as usual....lol but looks amazing! I know what you are saying about the Reference kit being hard on the back. I'm looking for a much lighter kit for local gigs. Might have to look harder at these shells.

Could I assume they would sound like a older badged MRX shell? I guess the hoops might change that a little too.

Hopefully you have some more time on them, any updates or thoughts that you could share?

Thanks, Rob

Hey Rob,

I love this kit. Sounds great, and is very very light compared to my reference kit. I dont have any experience with other pearl kits other than these two unfortunately. I have a DW Collectors Series Kit and a Custom Dixon Kit, and this kit sounds just as good as the Collectors Kit. I would say the Bass Drum actually sounds better than the DW Kit. Definitely should be an option for more people, great kit!

I've never been much on gold sparkles/glass finishes but this is simply beautiful and pictures never do the real thing justice either! The finish looks so deep and rich.I tried out a Masters Complete kit very briefly a couple months ago and I still say the masters series are an absolute steal for the money. Congrats on your new kit!

Woke up at 2:00 am and can't get back to sleep.

Thought some reading might help...and I found this. Yes that's what I was referring to. It looked to me like it was a coated head with a clear pattern at the bottom. Still does. But once I read the explanation...perfect sense.

Still a fabulous kit!

It should sound closer to an older MMX kit. The MRX was the thicker six-ply shell, same as the MCX; all attack and projection, no tone; at least at lower tunings. They will sing if you crank them up into the bop range.
