The Midtown Kit’s compact size makes it ideal for tight spaces, and quickly breaks down into an optional two gig bag set for quick transport. Included 16x14 bass drum, 10x7 tom, 13x12 floor tom, and 13x5.5 snare create a unique sonic statement. A full shell pack costing less than many snare drums.

I believe I read somewhere that it's a 16" kick.

On the Pearl site it says that it has Maple Shells. Then it says it has Poplar Shells. Which is right?

Pretty sure poplar is correct. If they were maple they'd have a higher street price. And it would likely say maple on be badge

If they are priced near the Ludwig Breakbeats, which I don't think they are..( guessing 5 bills)...this could be a hott seller!

it's cool, but if you already have a full size kit, you can pretty much configure it like this anyway....16x16 kick drum, 10x8 tom, 11x14 floor and any snare you want....

I think the total portability with having 2 bags for the shells is pretty slick. But yeah, you could get the jungle conversion kit for a floor tom and have your micro sized set... Nothing too new there. However if you are the type of cat that mixes it up a lot with show/ venue size, then something like the Midtown would be cool to have bagged and ready.

These are completely awesome. I feel they should be marketed to schools as well. Around here the high school band plays during football and basketball games. Each night I see them drag the kit into the gym or pack them out to the out side bleachers, do their thing and then pack them back. The smaller kit and the bags would make the process SOOOO much easier. I think Pearl has a home run w/ these!

Still lots to love about Pearl for me. We go waaaayyyy back! My recent experience soured me a little, but when I factor in the positive experiences I have had owning, playing and gigging Pearl drums and hardware. There will always be a soft spot.

Love my Mapex gear, but I would NEVER part with my Pearl hardware. For sure interested in this Midtown rig with the bags!!

Always love small kits and these look great.

I love the two bag idea as wekk,

I also love the single tom post on the BD (which pearl doesn't always do) and a nice mounting system.

I wonder which big maker will be the first to offer a nesting kit? 16/13/10 is ideal sizes.

Seems there's a growing trend towards portability these days - which for a non driving drummer is great.
