I'll say marimba, because it's much nicer to practice on. But, I'll also state that I play a lot more bells in concerts than any other mallet instrument.

As a solo instrument, I would much prefer playing and listening to the Marimba. Without a doubt, that low end...whooo....That's good stuff!

As for playing in a large ensemble...Chimes. For sure. Or Xylo.
