Is there much difference in sound quality, workmanship between these two snares? Thanks.

They have used the same shells since the mid to late '60s. Main difference is 10 lugs on the Supra versus 8 on the Acro. There is a noticeable difference between the old and the recent brass Supras and the Acros, but not the aluminum ones, at least to my ears. They both come with P85 or P86 strainers, depending on the age. Really no difference in build quality.

No. The acro is more resonant because of the 8 lugs rather than the 10. I have a Acro and love it. I haven't heard a supra though. The acro (used) is the best snare you can buy for the price. I hear its very very similar sound wise to the supra but a hell of a lot cheaper if you use eBay

Acrolites And Spuraphonics do sound a lot alike.

Main differences:

Acrolite:
a teeny bit more resonant.
More robust "paint" finish.
Cheaper.
Narrower tuning range.

Supra:
A teeny bit more focused and controlled, perfect for close-miking (i.e. recording).
Chrome finish that looks awesome, but eventually it will flake off and look like ***.
More expensive.
Wider tuning range. Especially if you like to crank your batter.
