View Full Version : Its time to make a decision.

I got some extra cash, and I'm looking for a new snare.
I want something brass, and i've narrowed it down to these two (unless I can find a brass free-floater for around this price, and the same size)

Therefore I need to make a decision.
Help me out, and receieve some wicked rep.

Pork Pie Big Black Brass
Specs: 14"x6.5"
2.3 triple flanged hoops. Chrome everything except for black plated shell. $200 at GC+Tax

World Max Black Hawg
Specs: 14"x6.5"
Die Cast Hoops, Better Strainer, black everything.
They run around $260+$10 for shipping.

I will also be buying a new head for it, preferably an Aquarian (help me choose something). I have a focus X on my snare, and it sound wonderful. I might just go with one of these.

Thanks a lot.

I vote for the Worldmax just because the PP didn't do much for me. You'd also have something very different. It has a super nice strainer on it too. Add that to the dc hoops and it is the better value.

ANyone else?

Based on reputation alone and without hearing either one in person I would have to say the World-Max.

I hear nothing but praises from World-Max owners.

i personally wish i got the pork pie instead of my pork pie acrylic but i would go with the Worldmax. i screwed with the pork pie brass for about an hour in chicago last weekend and it didn't even sound half as good as the brass sensitone i played a couple hours before that.

That's exactly what I felt about the PP. I only wish someone stocked the sensitones around here.

Pics asap on your Worldmax!!

I just bought a Grestch Catalina Birch. However I still really want one of these snares.
I think I will get one within the next 3 months though.

The Worldmax snares look very nice.

You can also get the WorldMax Hawg with single flanged hoops & clips for the same price but those have chrome plated hardware. I've been eyeing them for a while and am undecided on which version. I'd like to try the 14x4 Worldmax pup, too.

I want some die cast hoops. And all black=metal!
