I have read somewhere that Pearl may be discontinuing Ultracast snare drums. Anyone know something about it?

I highly doubt that

That would be like Fender dropping the Stratocaster, or Gibson the Les Paul.

not exactly, those are well established legendary instruments, the UC is quite new still, and not so well established (its no black beauty), but its such an excellent snare drum, it will earn its place among snare drum enthusiasts alongside the legends (maybe, maybe not, but to discontinue it would be just silly)

It makes them a ton of $....I don't see why they will
besides, they just upgraded the UC's strainers

Unfortunately, anything is possible... (Though i doubt likely in this case).

Think of what Paiste went thru recently... new lathing and badging for 502/302/402 only to drop the lines completely... Instrument companies are mad.

Everyone,

I believe the confusion may be in the recent change of model numbers:

UCA14** - old style strainer
UCA14**/B - new style SR1000 strainer

Hope this helps,

you shall burn for such blasphemy infidel* with the rage of a muslim who just saw a picture of the Prophet mohammed *

pearl drums would have to go out of business before they stop selling those things............................................ then after they close their doors the world will fall into mass anarchy, paper money will good for wiping @ss and people will use thier Ultracast snare as currency..................
