This section isnt what I hoped for.

kev
10-13-2005, 06:11 PM
What dyou hope for?

personally, i think the stuff with forums and copyright stuff is pretty restricting, but whatever goes. If I could do annyythhing, id build a nice page and put everything i could find in any way i could! :D

Then again, it still serves the purpose!

I think its a good idea, but I think only kev, and mods should be able to post in it so the threads don't get filled up with other posts. Keep it nice and clean.

I don't understand this section?

It's a collection of the best threads on the forum all grouped together for easy access. It makes sense and with a bit of work it will be awesome.

I think I'm going to write a script that has a collection of every cymbal currently made by the three major cymbal companies.

If I have time, and actually decide to do it, would anyone want to help with the actual inputting of the stuff?

Thatd be really interesting, but I dont think i'd be able to do much to help :(

kev
10-14-2005, 03:36 AM
Just try to keep things informative around here, keep things organised, at least. If things become too bad, then I might do that, but you never know :p

If anyones got material or their own stuff they want to post in, oh, and CarterIdolizer, that sounds great!

That diagram of the china has some of the worse striking advice I've ever seen. Are they for real? In the inverted pic, #4 is ridiculous...same with #3 in the bottom pic. You're only asking for big trouble striking the edge head on like that. Not to mention you'll pretty much shred your sticks to sawdust in no time at all. Example #3 in the top pic is just plain silly. The bell is like 2" across with the wingnut and felts in the middle. How the hell can you get a stick in there to actually play anything? Sheesh, where did you find that pic?

EDIT: I just found the thread that was first posted in. That came from PAISTE? Oh man.

I'm pretty sure it's intended to be exagerated, but somebody could get into big trouble if they took it literally. It's actually pretty acurate other than that.

Whats the right technique for hitting cymbals?

^ Take a stick, and hit it. It makes a sound. If it doesn't, you suck.

Whats the right technique for hitting cymbals?Pull your stick back after you hit a cymbal (or let it rebound on rides/ hi-hats), don't push the sticks on the cymbal. Also hit wit a slight twist of your wrist, this is supposed the be better for the cymbal but I never do it (at least I'm not aware of it) and I have no trouble with my cymbals or my technique.
